This was announced earlier this morning via a voicemail message he left. He will not be holding a press conference, however, the Packers will be later this afternoon. I was listening to the radio this morning as so many football fans were calling in, and through their sobs, declaring how much they love Brett Favre and how much they're going to miss him. Of any football player in the NFL, this guy had to be the most enjoyable to watch. Not only was he capable of making great plays, but just watching his excitement for the game made it such a fun experience in which to partake. I remember earlier this season after touchdown celebrations giving the refs high fives, slapping them in the butt. He's just a guy you can't help but love.
The clip above gives a lot of sound bytes throughout his playing days and is so typical of him. This next clip covers the game he played against the Raiders in 2003 when he torched them for 4 TDs and 300+ yards. It was the only Raiders game I've ever been to. I've said it before on here, but that night was just amazing to watch. You only see it on one of the touchdowns in this clip, but the entire night the guy was throwing into double and triple coverage and he just could not miss. It was unbelievable to behold. It's one of those sports moments that you hate to see against your team, but that you're just so grateful to be a part of. I'm going to miss this guy.

The NFL definitely lost an anchor today. Ive heard some people say they think he'll change his mind before August. I guess thats a little something to hold onto.
